With two recent app releases, we’re due for a catch up!
Plant Sharing
“It takes a village to raise a child – and a plant”
For those caring for their houseplants with their community of friends and family, this feature was made for you. With the latest release, you can share your plants with your partner, housemates, friends and family for joint access to the plant and care guides.
This allows the other profile(s) to also add notes, events and photos, as well as view the plant happiness score and notifications if the plant has a Willow Sensor. This works a treat when you’re off on holiday and need your green gang to be cared for and Sensor alerts responded to in your absence.

How to use it
Select the plant you wish to share, select Share top right, then enter your friend or family member’s Willow username. They’ll be prompted in the app to confirm the share request.
Weather Integration
Northern hemisphere gang getting into winter – the weather integration feature should be on your radar! This factors winter days into your Sensor’s readings and improves your user experience with alerts.
We know sunlight can be an issue during gloomy winter days. Even if your plant is in the best spot in your home, it may struggle to get sufficient light to support growth. With the integration of local weather broadcasts, Willow will monitor the cloud coverage and precipitation and, during particularly grey days, restrict sending any alerts from your plants letting you know they lacked sunlight.

That’s not to say your plant doesn’t want light during winter. Like living, breathing solar panels, plants need sunlight to create sugars and grow. Gloomy skies equal to no sunlight and starving houseplants. If the cloudy weather persists for an extended period, Willow will remind you to try to find somewhere with a decent lick of sunlight for them to recharge or to consider getting a grow light.

Watering & Fertiliser Changes
It's the growing season for our southern hemisphere Willowers and you may have noticed an increase in the frequency in your watering and fertiliser schedule. Your plants are now screaming out for a healthy dose of nutrients for that next level growth and drying out faster.
However, our beloved and somewhat pesky friends are often not hungry and thirsty at the same time which risks missing a cycle of liquid fertiliser as our plant isn’t ready for its next watering. Should your plant have an unactioned fertiliser request, Willow will now remind you to complete at the time of watering.

Placeholder Plants & Hardware Pairing
Purchased a new plant and have gone to pair a Willow sensor only to discover it’s not in our database yet? (Keyword: yet!). As fast as our plant library is growing, this can happen on occasion. But don’t fret! Users can now pair their Sensor with the broader plant type. It won’t have the full intricacies of the specific plant in its care guide but it will be more than sufficient for your Sensor to monitor it correctly while our horticulture team adds your plant in our library. Once your missing plant type’s been added to the library, your plant will automatically switch to it.

Last but not least – WiFi characters
Lastly, the most recent build allows users to connect a Hub to a WiFi that has special characters in its credentials, like emojis. When pairing your Willow system, we also detail the steps your hardware is taking as and when it happens for further insight.
These app releases, like the ones before them, were informed by suggestions and requests from our Willow community. We love hearing from you and, as always, keep the feedback coming!
