Minimalist But Make it Messy
Minimalism has had a significantly reduced position in design trends lately. The rise of boho stylism and eccentric fashion has reduced the necessity for crisp, clean decor. Our safe spaces have gotten adequately messy in the best way possible as the status quo of order is challenged through day to day life. It seems one of the best ways to express yourself today is through art, fashion and interior design. Specifically as we migrate toward apartment living. The trend going forward into 2023 points toward a minimalist, messy hybrid where decor is decisive and clean, but simultaneously the order is disturbed and neatness is subdued for a brilliant explosion of creativity.
You can see above, elegence is definitely recognised, although order is disturbed through lacking symmetry. Yet the designer has created something eye catching and homely. The marvelous Fiddle Leafed Fig (Ficus lyrata) is making a comeback throughout homes this year known for it's aesthetic foliage that contrasts normality whilst seeming somewhat neat and organised.
Contrasting Cactus with Terracotta
Terracotta has always been a houseplant lovers favourite. It's rich orange hues make an excellent addition of colour to most modern design plans. Especially when used alongside vibrant greens supplied by our favourite foliage rich fellows, the humble house plant. More specifically plant lovers have been drooling over an old favourite, which just so happens to love being planted in terracotta potting.
With their bright, lime green colours Cacti of all shapes and sizes contrast the warm terracotta in a wonderful way. Seeing this indoors will be a common theme during 2023 throughout the warmer regions of the world.
The Everlasting Puffy Lounger
Sharp and defined foliage has become increasingly popular over the last year and will continue to do so in 2023. Think small compact leaves like those of Ficus benjamin and Radermachera sinica. The contrast that's created through returning decor, corduroy textures, and puffy loungers are perfect for complimenting rigid foliage and wooden textures that accompany tree stems and twigs.

Purple is the New Black
Bright purple plants will stand out, contrasted with minimalist whites and complimented with modern warm blues and reds.

Metallic, Brass or silver planters, even gold planters contrasted with grey blue plants. Agaves and Aloes specifically feed this trend. Complimented with monochromatic décor.
Contemporary Classics and Fashionable Fabrics
Contemporary classics fused with fashionable fabrics, and modern style. Think polished concrete floors alongside retro gingham rugs, coffee table books contrasted with ornate ceramics. This may mean orchids and flowering plants might be making a return!
Minimalism in a sense
Move away from the idea that minimalism means bleak empty white space and be ready to embrace warmer tones
This means statement piece plants are back! A large foliage plant (Monstera or Philodendron) in a corner or well-placed section of the living space is essential. Less about how many plants fill up a room and more about how large the plants are.
Zen Nirvana

Focus has returned to natural lighting and large well-placed windows, which is a massive bonus for your beloved houseplants. This means more variety when it comes to choosing the right plant for your space. Beautiful Birds of Paradise and more sun loving species.
Soft comfort meets rigid firm, in an overlap which emphasises our new found love for minimalist fusion and homage to classic décor. This means succulents with their unusual and eccentric style are in! And heavily contrasting plants Colocasia, Ficus elastica and although they never really went out of fashion variegated plants will remain popular!
These trends will revolve heavily around the pots we implement into our décor, staying somewhat focused on rough and uneven textures, warm tone colour combinations and unusual yet appealing shapes. Get creative with your pottery selection as it should complement the space in either a rigid or soft manner.
Modern Moss Lovers
Moss is a big trending topic as we transition into 2023, whether it be on the surface of your pots and planters or you literally just grow moss as a small mound in pots alone. The green textured plants tick all the trending boxes, just be sure to not let them get too much sun.

We hope the new year brings prosperity to all, especially those plants you really want to see thriving in your home. A positive environment directly reflects a persons ability to succeed and with the growth of creative individuals, keeping up with trends and feeling good about your living space is crucial.
