We’ve said it a bunch and we’ll say it again; light is crucial to your plant’s health and growth. Plants depend on the energy from light. However, when they take on more light than they need, they convert the excess energy into heat and send it back out through transpiration.
Signs Of Too Much Light
The idiom of “too much of a good thing is never good” is true here. Look out for:
- Bleached or faded leaves: Too much light over a consistent period and your plant will lose the wonderful greens and other vibrant colours you love so much. Take this as a much-needed warning sign and adjust your plants position to its light source.
- Leaf burn: Too much light in extremes and your plant will develop yellow and brown spots that look like your plant has been pressed on a grill. Unlike nutrient deficiency, the plant leaves won’t drop but remain light-burned for their life.
- Quickly drying soil: To accommodate for the bright lit environment, your plant will naturally absorb more water than usual. Not the end of the world, but you may find yourself having to frequently quench your plants thirst.

Better yet, our Willow Sensors give your plants a voice and will shout out if facing too much light, so you can adjust and avoid the unsightly leaf burn.
Our Sensors track your light throughout every minute of the day and will also keep you posted on the long silent killer of low light situations.
